Sound for Pavilion dv4 in Ubuntu

How to fix your sound for a Hp Pavilion Dv4.. running ubuntu 9.04 .


well i was doing some reaseach and i found out that all i had to do is add to adding to:

sudo joe /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

and find the line

options snd-pcsp index=-2

and add

alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m4-1
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1



save your document

and restart your laptop and yaaaaaaaah its working ..

    I type at terminal

    sudo joe /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

    but terminal say..

    sudo: joe: command not found


    ...? I beginner of Ubuntu.. and English :s

    Please Help me..!

    first of all you need to install joe (terminal editor)
    sudo apt-get install joe
    and then after installing joe you can modify the file..
